The photography talents of students at City of Wolverhampton College have landed them places in the final of a local competition.
Seven students, who are studying for the UAL Level 3 diploma in photography, have made it through to the final stages of the Wolverhampton Young Photographer of the Year competition, organised by Wolverhampton Photographic Society.
Students submitted entries to the creative. portrait, movement and open categories with two students each having four entries shortlisted and a further two students having three pieces chosen.
The selected entries include a wide range of genres, including portraiture, landscape and fine art/creative photography, and will be on display at Wolverhampton Art Gallery from Saturday, January 25.
Photography tutor Chris Hill said: “Last year two of our students made it through to the final, so to have seven students, and some with multiple entries, chosen this year is fantastic news. Their work is outstanding and visitors to the art gallery will certainly be impressed with what they have produced so early in their photography careers.”
The Young Photographer of the Year competition is open to under-18s with a Wolverhampton postcode and winners will be announced at the gallery on Sunday, February 5.
The college – which was named as Training Provider of the Year for its creative arts course at the Creative and Cultural Skills Awards 2019 – is currently accepting applications for photography courses starting in 2020. Apply here or call Tel:01902 836000
