After moving to the UK from Afghanistan, 18-year-old Muhammad Nabi signed up for an ESOL qualification to improve his English, and we spoke to him after he’d done a practice interview session to prepare him for applying for jobs in the future.
Muhammad, who completed ESOL entry level 2 last year and has now progressed to entry level 3, said: “You need to learn the language – with English you can’t get on in society.
“Practising interview skills has helped me feel better about applying for jobs in the future.
“I know that I need to find out about the job I’m applying for and what to expect in an interview, as well as the importance of being confident and talking clearly.
“I recommend the college 100% and after completing my course want to apply for an apprenticeship in gas engineering, as well as continuing to improve my English skills.”
