Emma studied at City of Wolverhampton College completing an Access to HE Health pathway course. She is now currently studying at Wolverhampton University on a Paramedic Science Degree.
Due to Covid-19 clinical placements has to be cancelled several times, Fortunately West Midlands Ambulance Service offered a PTS role, which enabled Emma to do the placement element for her Degree. The role includes taking patients from hospital to home, home to hospital or hospital transfers.
Additionally Emma has chosen to complete a High Dependency Training course, this means rather than transferring stable patients Emma will be monitoring ECGs and Administrating Oxygen to patients who are extremely ill.
Emma is currently working in shifts that usually are 07:00 – 19:00 and in those hours has helped many different patients with many different illnesses.
When asked what you would say to a student studying the course this year, Emma Said “Good luck with your course this year! You have the best academic tutors right beside you. Look forwards to seeing you either in the wards on handover or on the road.”
