Businesses across the West Midlands can get advice on how to access increased government funding for apprenticeships from staff at City of Wolverhampton College.
The college’s team of apprenticeship account managers can help employers benefit from extra financial support if they take on a new apprentice before September 30, 2021.
Under the scheme – announced by The Chancellor of the Exchequer in his Budget statement on Wednesday, March 3 – eligible employers will receive an increased incentive payment of £3,000 for each new apprentice they take on from April 1 to September 30, 2021.
This is a change to current incentives which are paid on a sliding scale depending on the age of the apprentice, and in addition to the existing £1,000 payment employers receive if they take on apprentices aged 16-18.
Apprentices will combine earning and learning by working for an employer whilst studying for a relevant industry-recognised qualification and their performance in the workplace will be assessed by college staff on a regular basis.
The college offers over 40 apprenticeships in 15 industry sectors – including automotive, business administration, construction, customer services, digital marketing, early years, engineering, hairdressing, hospitality, IT, leadership & management, polymer processing and teaching assistant – and can assist employers with advertising vacancies, screening applicants and shortlisting candidates for interview.
