If you want to be a hairdresser or barber, an apprenticeship is the ideal way to learn the skills you need for your future career.
With programmes at beginner level if you’re just starting out, or advanced level if you want to develop your skills further, an apprenticeship will enable you to work in the industry while you’re doing your training.
During your training you will combine working with studying towards a set of occupational standards set by employers, learning-on-the-job alongside experienced colleagues in the workplace – and because you’ll be doing a real job you’ll get paid too!
On your day at college you will continue learning in the Academy hair salon, at the Metro One campus in the city centre, which operates as a commercial salon and is open to the public.
You will be trained by qualified tutors who have worked in the hairdressing industry for many years and will be supported throughout your training by college staff who will work closely with your employer to ensure that the skills you are learning are what is required by their business and that you will achieve your full potential and career aspirations.
And, did you know that apprenticeships aren’t just for new staff? if you’re already employed in the industry and want to improve your skills and boost your promotion prospects you can benefit from apprenticeship training too – just ask your employer to email employerenquiries@wolvcoll.ac.uk and a member of the team will contact them to discuss your training further.
