“Apprenticeships aren’t just for school leavers,” said 39-year-old Stacey Homer who has just completed a Level 3 team leader supervisor apprenticeship.
Stacey, a service development officer at City of Wolverhampton Council, said: “I chose to do an apprenticeship to support my personal development, enhance my career and enable me to become a good supervisor or manager.
“I learnt about different leadership styles and management models, how to manage projects, data and information, and how to the performance of a team and any conflict, as well as organisational strategies, cultures, mission statements, law and legislation.
“The tutor believed in me, supported me every step of the way and the training has made me more confident in my current role and has given me the opportunity to apply for senior positions within the council.
“I felt that I couldn’t go any further in my career but, if you think you can’t do better, you can!”
