Students at City of Wolverhampton College have given the organisation a thumbs-up in a recent survey.
Around 2000 full-time students answered a range of questions about their college experience and had the opportunity to share positive comments and make suggestions on where improvements could be made.
In the survey of full-time students and those studying substantial courses, results show that 98% students think that they are on the right course, 97% agree they received an appropriate induction to college life and 99% understand the college’s expectations around behaviour.
Steps taken to reduce the spread of Covid were deemed acceptable by 97% of respondents, with 95% saying that they would recommend the college to a friend.
Student’s comments about their experience so far have included:
- “Very friendly and welcoming environment. Staff are very helpful when you need support. Very happy with my choice of college and course.”
- “[I’m] learning from amazing tutors and gaining knowledge from my course.”
- “… really enjoy it and look forward to coming every week, which I have never felt before in my education.”
- “The experience at the college so far has been amazing, meeting all my new tutors, making friends and learning so much more than I did previously. It’s honestly opened up my eyes…”
- “There is a safe environment in the college which motivates to learn…”
In comments about how the college experience could be improved, students highlighted the lack of seating areas in the canteen areas, which had been removed as part of Covid restriction measures but have since been re-instated, and a broken lift at the Paget Road campus which has now been repaired.
Louise Fall, vice principal for student engagement, said: “As the college gets back to normal after many months of Covid restrictions, we are really very pleased with the results of the survey and to know that our students have settled in well to the new academic year and feel safe and supported during their short time with us.”
