Staff at City of Wolverhampton College are gearing up for a busy week online during National Apprenticeship Week (8-14 February).
Throughout the week members of the college’s apprenticeship team will be taking part in online workshops and live chats, as well as well as posting case studies of current apprentices and comments from apprentice employers to the college’s website and social media channels.
Jo Baugh, head of employer engagement, will be talking to advisors from the city’s Job Centres about the range of apprenticeships the college offers ; Rachele Watson, account manager for hairdressing apprenticeships, will be taking part in a Live Chat hosted by the Ladder for the Black Country, and apprenticeship recruitment officers will be providing details of current vacancies for a Twitter jobs fair.
The week will also see the launch of the college’s new digital apprenticeship directory for employers – a 300-page online booklet containing comprehensive details of over 50 apprenticeships, training facilities and funding opportunities, as well as details of how the team can support employers to set up an apprenticeship and recruit employees for the programme.
Ryan Pratt, aged 19, who is following a team leading apprenticeship pathway at Wolverhampton-based charity Believe 2 Achieve and will be featured on the college website and Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages, said:
“I did my A Levels in the summer and wanted to get more hands-on experience to help me decide what I want to do in the future, so an apprenticeship is ideal for me.
“Through the apprenticeship, and working for the charity, I’ve really grown as a person. I’m getting more of an idea of the real world and the challenges and battles that people have to face.”
