Since completing the Level 3 in UPS in 2022, 25 year old Hayden Flynn is now employed as a Police Officer with Derbyshire Constabulary.
Hayden said: “Since completing the UPS level 3 course, I went through an intense application and training process to become a police officer, and have been in service since December 2023. My current role entails intense front line response policing, serving and protecting members of the public, and ensuring a safer environment for every individual in the surrounding communities. I have a vision to make a difference wherever I conduct my duties by communicating effectively with the public to provide reassurance and make them feel safer.
“The UPS Level 3 course provided me with a platform to understand what the role of policing entails. When joining the police, I had a far greater understanding of specific roles such as teamwork, community cohesion, equality, and was able to apply my skills in my role as a serving police officer. My time at college was one of the best and most fun times I have had to date, and I would certainly say my teachers provided me with the most appropriate support to enable me to get the best grade possible.
“My advice to anyone who is thinking about applying for the UPS course would be to ensure you have a passion for being a member of the protective services, and ensure you have an understanding of what it entails. Most importantly, have fun and enjoy the course.”
