Young people facing future uncertainty due to the coronavirus pandemic can benefit from a range of free courses at City of Wolverhampton College.
The college is offering over 20 free one-year courses – in areas such as construction, engineering, health and social care, maths and science – to 18-19-year-olds to enable them to develop new skills and increase their employment prospects.
The courses are aimed at those who may not yet be ready for employment or further study, young people who have been made redundant or are facing uncertainty about their future career, and school or college leavers who may have changed their plans to go to university.
People signing up for the courses will be given priority access to apprenticeship opportunities with employers in the local area, have access to a specialised recruitment centre once a term and benefit from other college services such as careers advice and counselling sessions.
Places are still available and, even if courses have already started, people can sign up and tutors will ensure that they are given help to catch up on lessons they have missed.
